Patience is not my virtue. Neither is finishing projects. Or routine.
Regardless, I finally finished painting a small bookshelf we inherited from a garage sale 2 years ago. It was this fabulously cheap, whitewashed thing and it housed random cords and remotes (yes, plural) for our TV room.
But a couple weeks ago I began priming and painting this bad boy. After seeing a bookshelf on Centsational Girl I posted it on Pinterest promising to replicate the design.
I think I promised, promised, promised.

I guess I technically broke the promise, but after seeing this stencil on Sweet Something Design I decided to go this route instead of the geometric pattern above.
Our bookshelf is small but wow did it take a long time to stencil and paint this! I estimated a couple hours max but it took closer to 6-7 hours for this. I guess speed is also not my virtue.

I am really pleased with how it turned out. Of couse there are lots of fun imperfections when you look up close. And I was impatient to let the paint dry so sliding the shelfs in took out some sections of paint on the side. I'm ok with that. The fact that I actually finished something is enough for me right now!
Happy July 4th:)
